A comprehensive client software environment from Oracle for its Solaris operating system. Java Desktop System (JDS), based on the Java 2 platform, includes the GNOME user interface, StarOffice application suite, Evolution email and Mozilla browser. It also includes the NetBeans development tool. Originally running under Linux, support for Linux was dropped after Solaris was made open source.
