Patos

 

(Lagoa dos Patos), a lagoon in southeastern Brazil. A shallow lagoon, Patos is 241 km long and up to 48 km wide. It is linked by a narrow channel with the Atlantic Ocean and by the São Gonçalo Canal with Lagoa Mirim. There is fishing in the lagoon. The city of Pôrto Alegre is situated on the northwestern shore.
