VFAT
(Virtual File Allocation Table) The file system used in Windows for Workgroups and Windows 95/98. It provided 32-bit Protected Mode access for file manipulation. VFAT was faster than, but also compatible with, the DOS 16-bit File Allocation Table (FAT). In Windows for Workgroups, VFAT was called "32-bit file access." In Windows 95/98, it supported long file names up to 255 characters.Copyright © 1981-2025 by The Computer Language Company Inc. All Rights reserved. THIS DEFINITION IS FOR PERSONAL USE ONLY.
