baryon density parameter

(ba -ree-on) The ratio of the mean smooth density of baryons to the critical density of the Universe. It can be determined through studies of cosmic nucleosynthesis and observations of the helium and deuterium abundances in primordial material; the currently accepted value is around 0.06.
