reverse Polish notation
[ri′vərs ′pō·lish nō′tā·shən] (computer science)
The version of Polish notation, used in some calculators, in which operators follow the operators with which they are associated. Abbreviated RPN. Also known as postfix notation; suffix notation.

A mathematical expression in which the numbers precede the operation. For example, 2 + 2 would be expressed as 2 2 +, and 10 - 3 * 4 would be 10 3 4 * -.
