The assignment of actual locations in a computer memory to virtual addresses in a computer program.

address translation

Transforming one address into another. For example, assemblers and compilers translate symbolic addresses in the source code into machine addresses. Virtual memory systems translate a virtual address into a physical address. See address resolution.
