airlift

i. The transportation of personnel or materiel by use of aircraft and/or helicopters. Also, the operation or service carrying out such transportation or the aircraft used in such an operation.
ii. The total weight of personnel and cargo that is, or can be, transported by air, as in airlift capability. See also airlift capability.
airlift capability The total capacity expressed in terms of the number of passengers and/or the weight or volume of cargo that can be carried at any one time to a given destination by available airlift.
