With ideal predistortion, the cascade of the predistorting device
and the HPA has no phase distortion, and the amplitude distortion may be
modeled as a soft limiter, as illustrated in Fig. One use
of an equalization system is to compensate for transmission-channel
impairments such as frequency-dependent phase and amplitude distortion. Telephone companies simply
connect one HDSL transceiver at the central office and a second at or
near the customer premises, and HDSL technology then compensates for the
phase and amplitude distortion associated with achieving the higher
transmission rates. |
