anodizing |
Also found in: Dictionary/thesaurus, Acronyms, Wikipedia, Hutchinson | 0.13 sec. |
anodizingMethod of coating metal for corrosion resistance, electrical insulation, thermal control, abrasion resistance, sealing, improving paint adhesion, and decorative finishing. Anodizing consists of electrically depositing an oxide film from aqueous solution onto the surface of a metal, often aluminum, which serves as the anode in an electrolytic cell. In the most common type of anodizing, which uses a 15% sulfuric acid bath, dyes can be introduced into the oxidation process to achieve a coloured surface. Aluminum thus anodized and coloured is used widely in giftware, home appliances, and architectural decoration. How to thank TFD for its existence? Therefore, makers of electro magents insulate or anodize their electric coils to protect the core of the magnet. Hardened with a black anodize finish, internal heatsinking and MIL-C-38999 connectors, this rugged Fast Ethernet switch node serves as a highly reliable yet affordable solution for expanding port density to DuraMAR mobile IP routers and other network centric solutions. Manufacturing facilities upgrades include the installation of new CNC machining systems, robotic preparation equipment, automated anodize plating controls and inspection/test equipment. |
