The Todd Pletcher-trained 4-year-old won the Apple Blossom Stakes in April, but was a distant fourth in her past start, the Ogden Phipps on June 17 at Belmont.
Throughout the process, from bees drawing nectar and pollinating the apple blossoms, to birds and worms attracted to them as food, to their eventually to being harvested for people to enjoy, apple trees are a constant benefit.
It's the site of the annual Shenandoah Valley Apple Blossom Festival--highlighted by the crowning of the Apple Blossom Queen (one of whom turned your reporter down for a date, even though we both worked for a newsletter publisher at the time).
