application(1) A set of files that make up software for the user. The terms "application" and "application program" are synonymous; however, there could be a technical difference if both terms are used in the same conversation. In that case, "application" would refer to the complete set of files that have to be installed (executables, configuration files, ancillary data files, etc.), whereas the "application program" would refer to just one executable file. See application program. application 1. something, such as a healing agent or lotion, that is applied, esp to the skin 2. Logic maths the process of determining the value of a function for a given argument 3. short for application program, applications package application [‚ap·lə′kā·shən] (computer science) A computer program that performs a specific task, for example, a word processor, a Web browser, or a spread sheet.

Photonics Europe includes an industry applications programme with experts in business development, commercialization of technology and best-practices for industry. It had resulted in strengthening and reorientation of the UN Space Applications Programme to promote indigenous capabilities in those countries, as well as in creating, under the auspices of the UN Office for Outer Space Affairs, an international space information service. |
