arterite [är′tir‚īt] (petrology) A migmatite produced as a result of regional contact metamorphism during which residual magmas were injected into the host rock. Gneisses characterized by veins formed from the solution given off by deep-seated intrusions of molten granite. A veined gneiss in which the vein material was injected from a magma.
