Liver (Atlantic menhaden) and spleen (other fish species) tissues were sampled aseptically, homogenized in Butterfield's phosphate-buffered saline and plated on Middlebrook 7H10 agar (Difco, Detroit, MI, USA) supplemented with Bacto Middlebrook oleic acid, albumin, dextrose, catalase (Difco). The port device was spiked aseptically into a 1000 mL saline bag while the cap was aseptically threaded onto a 1000 mL saline bottle. Hokkai says it was drawn to the ATP technology so it could manufacture hot-fill bottles that compete with aseptically packaged beverages. |
