Feb 11, 2009 Aeroflot Nord, Boeing Regarding last September's Aeroflot Nord 737-500, investigators concluded that the pilot misread an attitude indicator and that the aircraft, with autopilot and autothrottle turned off, banked to its left before hitting the ground.
Why, I remember flying my Hellcat during Dubble Yew Dubble Yew Big One, at a half-mile behind the boat on a black night convinced I was inverted in spite of what my attitude indicator was telling me.
The latter was displayed at Idex, but was fully functional: the visitor could pick up the 'black box', turn it and swing it about and watch the attitude indicator on a personal computer display rotate while all the servos buzz an swing on the table.
