Balletomane
one who loves and constantly attends the ballet. There were many balletomanes in Russia in the second half of the 19th century. They included members of the Russian intelligentsia who sometimes emerged as theoreticians and historians of the art of ballet, among them K. Skal’kovskii, A. Pleshcheev, S. Khudekov, and V. Svet-lov. The term came into use in Western Europe considerably later than in Russia. REFERENCESPleshcheev, A. Chto vspomnilos’: Aktery i pisateli, vol. 3. St. Petersburg, 1914Haskell, A. L.
