bin

(BINary) A popular directory name in the Unix world for storing executable programs, device drivers and other binary files. See bin file and binaries.

The Bin Folder
Note the bin folder in this Konqueror file manager window. Konqueror is the Linux equivalent of Explorer in Windows or Finder in the Mac and comes with the KDE user interface, commonly used in Linux.
