The dye adsorption was studied in a batch experiment with 50 mL aqueous solution of 5 mg/L basic fuchsin and methyl violet dyes for 48 h at 25[degrees]C.
The variation of adsorption of basic fuchsin dye with contact time in the low and high concentration range is shown in Fig.

Interpretation & conclusions: Sputum samples can be stored for up to seven days in the sputum container with phenol ammonium sulphate basic fuchsin solution.
