(materials)
A sturdy fabric, usually of cotton, used in belts.
A heavy leather, made from hides of cattle, used in power transmission belts. Also known as belting leather.

My dad gave me some terribly bad beltings when I was wee and I don't understand why anyone would want anything like that.
