biocenology [‚bī·ō·sə′näl·ə·jē]
(ecology) The study of natural communities and of interactions among the members of these communities. Biocenology a science that studies plant and animal communities as a whole—that is, biocenoses and their structure, development, distribution in space and time, and origin.
