Councilman Jack Weiss said the blue-ribbon panel will go a long way toward addressing the underlying causes of the Rampart scandal, which broke in 1998 with the arrest of former Officer Rafael Perez for stealing cocaine from an evidence locker. We are very pleased that the Governor and Senator Kuehl are fully committed to addressing the dire situation in the Delta by appointing a blue-ribbon commission to develop a strategic vision for the region. Of the 527 public and private schools nominated nationwide, the blue-ribbon honor was awarded to 262 schools in 41 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. |
