Bola

 

(also bolas; from the Spanish bola—ball), a hunting missile weapon consisting of round stones wrapped in hide attached to the ends of thongs or clusters of thongs. Bolas are mainly used by Patagonian Indians in the pampas of South America for hunting guar. Similar weapons were also used by the Chukchi and Koriaki of northeastern Siberia for hunting birds.
