| The worst of it is that many bomblets remain unexploded until the civilian population returns to the area only to be confronted by innumerable small explosions, maiming or killing individuals, often children. We know that they drenched southern Lebanon with cluster bombs in the last 72 hours of the war, leaving tens of thousands of bomblets which are still killing Lebanese civilians every week. Cluster bomblets littered the infrastructure of what used to be apartment buildings, playgrounds, bridges, and factories essential for commerce and carrying on the daily trade and business practices of a bustling and thriving peaceful country. |
