strapping [′strap·iŋ] (electricity) Connecting two or more points in a circuit or device with a short piece of wire or metal. (electronics) Connecting together resonator segments having the same polarity in a multicavity magnetron to suppress undesired modes of oscillation. (petroleum engineering) A petroleum industry procedure in which storage tanks are strapped (measured) on their outside with steel measuring tapes to calculate the volumetric capacity of the tank for increments of height.
