button quail: see bustard quail bustard quail or button quail, any of the small ground-running Old World birds of the family Turnicidae. Also called a hemipode, it resembles a true quail in appearance and way of life but is more closely related to sandgrouse and pigeons.

In the underbrush recently, a fist-size Chinese button quail warmed four day-old hatchlings, and then moved aside to reveal living versions of Easter Peeps candy chicks, with active legs.
Fox control FOR 60 years now, I have kept and bred animals and birds, from button quail to large white pigs.
Since a boy I have owned and cared for animals from white mice to a Wessex pig, and birds from button quail to large black orpingtons.
