Butylated Hydroxyanisole ( BHA is used in cosmetic products as a preservative but is considered to be a possible carcinogen by the World Health Organisation.
A packaging laminate comprising an outer layer impermeable to a butylated phenolic antioxidant was recently patented.
Now, marine plant researchers have also found several seaweed extracts with antioxidant activity that compare favorably to the commercial antioxidants ascorbic acid and butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT).
