catenary [′kat·ə‚ner·ē]
(materials)
In fiberglass-reinforced plastics, a measure of the sag in an assemblage of a number of strands, which have a minimal amount of twist, at the midpoint of a specified length.
(mathematics)
The curve obtained by suspending a uniform chain by its two ends; the graph of the hyperbolic cosine function. Also known as alysoid; chainette.

catenary
The curve formed by a flexible cord hung between two points of support.
