(mining engineering)
Increasing the size of a drill hole in a quarry by firing a succession of small charges, until the hole can take a proper explosive charge to bring down the face of the quarry.
(ordnance)
That phase of small-arms operation that deals with the placing of the round into the chamber after the round has been fed into the weapon by the feeding device.
