chassis

Pronounced "chah-see," it is a physical structure that holds everything or that everything is attached to. A computer's cabinet is often called the chassis.


chassis
1. the steel frame, wheels, engine, and mechanical parts of a motor vehicle, to which the body is attached
2. Electronics a mounting for the circuit components of an electrical or electronic device, such as a radio or television
3. the landing gear of an aircraft

chassis [′chas·ē]
(engineering)
A frame on which the body of an automobile or airplane is mounted.
A frame for mounting the working parts of a radio or other electronic device.
