a loosely woven cotton cloth formerly used only for wrapping cheese
cheesecloth [′chēz‚klȯth]
(textiles)
A very loosely woven, thin, lightweight cotton fabric; used in unfinished (gray) form for covering tobacco plants and for making tea bags and wiping cloths; the finished form is used for curtains, bedspreads, and such.
