cherry picker [′cher·ē ‚pik·ər] (aerospace engineering) A crane used to remove the aerospace capsule containing astronauts from the top of the rocket in the event of a malfunction. (mechanical engineering) Any of several small traveling cranes, especially one used to hoist a passenger on the end of a boom.
