confinement [kən′fīn·mənt]
(engineering)
Physical restriction, or degree of such restriction, to passage of detonation wave or reaction zone, for example, that of a resistant container which holds an explosive charge.
(particle physics)
A property of quantum chromodynamics whereby isolated quarks cannot exist, nor can any other isolated particles that carry color charges, such as gluons.
(plasma physics)
Restriction of a hot plasma to a given volume as long as possible, by such means as magnetic mirrors and pinch effect.
