Acetaminophen is turned into at least two toxic compounds by chlorination treatment, researchers report in the 15 January 2006 issue of Environmental Science & Technology, raising concerns about the fate of this and other pharmaceuticals that end up in water supplies. Designed to be compact, low-cost and hardworking, the new Titan[TM] GT100 pressure-based chlorination system from PPG Industries is NSF 50 certified, and delivers safer, simpler and more accurate chlorination for commercial swimming pool applications. It was therefore feared that the chlorination process would change the mechanical properties of the compound, particularly the low strain modulus, called the "zero" modulus. |
