civic center

Grouping of municipal facilities in a limited precinct often adjacent to the central business district of a city. The civic center is based on both the Greek acropolis and the Roman forum. The plan includes the city hall and adjoining park or plaza, headquarters for city departments, courthouses, and often a post office, public-utility offices, public health facilities, and government offices.

More than 10 years in the planning, the civic center is being touted as the region's most environmentally friendly city hall and a symbol of the city's coming of age.
MEMPHIS: Somerset Partners, LLC has purchased Civic Center Apartments, a 392-unit Class A multifamily community located in Southaven, Mississippi, a suburb of Memphis, Tennessee.
The project, which stretches southward to Fifth Street, will add 1,000 residential units adjacent to the Civic Center in Bunker Hill.
