class S modulator

[‚klas ′es ′mäj·ə‚lād·ər]
(electronics)
A modulator that is based on pulse-width modulation with a switching frequency several times the highest output frequency, and in which the pulse-width modulated signal is boosted to the desired power level by switching amplifiers, after which the desired audio output is obtained by a low-pass filter.
