(design engineering)
A U-shaped metal fitting with holes in the open ends to receive a bolt or pin; used for attaching or suspending parts.
(mining engineering)
A spring hook or snap hook which, in coal mining, is used to attach the bucket to the hoisting rope. Also known as clivvy.
