click-through rate
(redirected from click rate)

Also found in: Wikipedia 0.01 sec.

click-through rate

The number of times a link on a Web page is clicked compared to the number of times it is displayed. Advertising royalties paid to Web sites are often based on click-through rate (CTR), and the amount paid per click-through is considerably higher than the cost of an ad that is displayed without accounting for its effectiveness.

A click-through rate can be used for more than just ads. It can be used to measure how many times a link on a page is clicked for any purpose; for example, to go to a featured section of the site on another page. See pay-per-click, banner ad and CPM.
