The authorization to use software. Most software is licensed rather than sold, which means purchasers are never the actual owners of the software, although they may be able to use it without any time limit. Software licensing is a curious phenomenon of the software industry that has been the norm for decades and never challenged by the user community. The preference in enterprises for concurrent licensing has grown by 11% in the last year to 53%, while the preference for traditional per machine/server licensing dropped by 7%.
Until Soffront offered concurrent licensing, users either needed their own license, which increased costs, or had to share licenses, preventing the ability to track, monitor and schedule activities individually.
Other upgrades include USB dongle support, concurrent licensing, and Windows XP Professional support.
