Rubber that contains suspended carbon or silver spheres; its electrical resistance decreases when it is compressed, making it useful as a contact sensor.

Schwerdtle, which has been selling both metal- and rubber-face dies for several years, says the new technology employs a higher-heat, thermally conductive rubber that is available in a lower durometer range (70-80) than most other rubber-face dies (85-100), which imitate metal and aren't as "forgiving" as the new dies.
