connection orientedA communications architecture that requires the establishment of a session between two nodes before transmission can begin. When the communications is completed, the session is ended (torn down). All circuit-switched networks are connection oriented because they require a dedicated channel for the duration of the session. The most ubiquitous circuit-switched network is the PSTN. In addition, packet-switched X.25, frame relay and ATM networks are also connection oriented, because they require receiving nodes to acknowledge their ability to support the transmission before data can be sent. SCO is the Synchronous and Connection Oriented physical link, which transports voice across a Bluetooth link. Service Specific Connection Oriented Protocol (SSCOP) and Service Specific Coordination Function (SSCF) for broadband signaling, and SIGTRAN protocols for IP signaling are also included, so the ATMII controller is also able to send signaling and IP over AAL5 in 3G networks. 1 specification implementing the Host Controller Interface (HCI) with the USB, UART, Transport Layers; the Logical Link Control and Adaptation Protocol (L2CAP); the Service Discovery Protocol (SDP); Serial Port Emulation (RFCOMM); the Telephony Control protocol Specification (TCS) and Synchronous Connection Oriented (SCO) connections; and Object Exchange (OBEX) functions. |
