erosion of a rock surface by rock fragments transported over it by water, wind, or ice
mechanical abrasion of rocks by moving masses of detrital material transported by various moving agents (water, ice, wind) or displaced gravitationally along slopes.
Mechanical wearing away of rock and soil by the action of solid materials moved along by wind, waves, running water, glaciers, or gravity. Also known as mechanical erosion.
