coulisse [kü′lēs]
(engineering)
A piece of wood that has a groove cut in it to enable another piece of wood to slide in it. Also known as cullis.

coulisse, cullis
1. A piece of channeled or grooved timber, as one in which a frame slides.
2. An area backstage in the theater, esp. between two wing flats.
