A device which makes a graphic record of the headings and distances traveled.

Course Recorder

(courseograph), a navigation instrument for recording automatically the course of a vessel over time. The record is drawn on a continuous paper belt (course recording). The recorder is operated from a gyrocompass or a remote magnetic compass.
