| To create effective mutual support in providing local protection, observation, and covering fire as well as to permit disengagement and movement, four vehicles became the minimum tactical grouping. The significant drawback in the area of the Artillery fire in those years was that all the recommendations were largely designed for the Gun Battery-Gun Platoon level, whereas, for the Gun Battalion-Artillery Group level, they were limited to several sentences, with practically no recommendations given for the destruction of enemy batteries, or for covering fire.
