So far, terrorists have used explosives, kidnappings and hijackings, but they will eventually turn to cyber-terrorism and use cyberspace technology, which will threaten pipelines, power plants, transportation and communication systems, and other hard assets based on cyberspace technology. Generally, the magazine will cover such topics as identity theft, cyber-terrorism, network forensics, perimeter defense, secure web services and encryption. The legislation also caps the federal back-up coverage for terrorism losses at $100 billion annually, applies coverage only to primary and excess commercial property and casualty insurance -- including cyber-terrorism and business interruption insurance, and requires carriers to offer terrorism insurance to policyholders whose current coverage excludes acts of terrorism. |
