(biochemistry) C9H14O8N3P A nucleotide synthesized from the base cytosine and obtained by hydrolysis of nucleic acid. Cytidylic Acid (also cytidine monophosphate), a natural compound; a nucleotide consisting of the pyrimidine base cytosine, the carbohydrate D-ribose, and phosphoric acid (seeNUCLEOTIDES). Cytidylic acid forms colorless platelets that are readily soluble in water. It has a molecular weight of 323.2 It is found in all living cells and is one of the four major types of monomers from which polymers of ribonucleic acids are formed.
