decor The combination of materials, furnishings, and objects used in interior decorating to create an atmosphere or style. Decor the system of decorations of a building (facade, interior) or an article. Decor, both simple (for example, a uniform color scheme or a uniform textural treatment of a surface) and complex (combining decorative design and representation, or sculpture and painting, or materials of different textures), is in unity with a volume-space composition and appears as its element. Decor accentuates the expressiveness of the composition or visually transforms it, introducing the scaled relationships, rhythm, and color that are peculiar to its own scheme. Decor is a means of visually uniting separate buildings or objects into an ensemble. Want to thank TFD for its existence?
