Dimethoate

dimethoate [dī′meth·ə‚wāt]
(organic chemistry)
C5H12NO3PS2A crystalline compound, soluble in most organic solvents; used as an insecticide.

Dimethoate 

(in Russian also fosfamid), 0,0-dimethyl S-(N-methylcarbamoylmethyl)-dithiophosphate, an organophos-phorus insecticide. Dimethoate is manufactured in a 40-percent emulsion concentrate and is used for the control of mites, aphids, and other sucking pests of plants in the proportion of 0.8–2.5 kg per hectare. It is highly toxic to humans and animals. Treatment with the preparation must be discontinued 30 days before harvesting the crop (15 days before harvesting cotton).

The 23 other restricted- use pesticide compounds reported in the local Arabic press are: bromadiolone, carbofuran (in liquid form), chlorpyrifos, ethoprophos, carbaryl, chlorothalonil, demeton-s-methyl, diclofop- methyl, dicofol, dimethoate, benomyl, mancozeb, endosulfan, tetradifon, zineb, methomyl, propargite, propoxur, quintozene, simazine, methiocarb, methoxychlor and oxydemethel-methyl.
Green beans: Conventionally grown green Beans can contain three organophosphates that are toxic to the nervous system: acephate, dimethoate and methamidophos.
Figure 6 shows that omethoate and dimethoate almost have the same structure, the only structural difference is the group of S=P[equivalent to] in Dimethoate instead of O=P[equivalent to].
