Dimorphotheca
a genus of plants of the family Compositae. Dimorphotheca are annual or perennial grasses or subshrubs with large anthodia on the ends of the branched stems. The achenes do not have thistledowns. There are seven species in South Africa. Some species are widely cultivated as ornamental annuals, chiefly D. aurantiaca, which has yellow-orange flowers with ligulate florets, and D. pluvialis (D. annua), which has white (purple beneath) flowers with ligulate florets.
