discone antenna[′dis‚kōn an′ten·ə]
A biconical antenna in which one of the cones is spread out to 180° to form a disk; the center conductor of the coaxial line terminates at the center of the disk, and the cable shield terminates at the vertex of the cone.
A wideband antenna formed of a disc and a cone, whose apex approaches and becomes common with the outer conductor or the coaxial feed at its extremity. The center conductor terminates at the center of the disc that is perpendicular to the axis of the cone.
