dynamic RAMThe most common type of computer memory. Dynamic RAM (DRAM, D-RAM) chips are very dense because they use only one transistor and one storage capacitor for each bit. Unlike non-volatile firmware chips (ROM, EEPROM, flash, etc.), both major types of RAM, dynamic RAM and static RAM, lose their content when the power is turned off.

MRAM combines the best features of today's common memory technologies: the storage capacity and low-cost of Dynamic RAM (DRAM), the high speed of Static RAM (SRAM), and the non-volatility of flash memory. Harnish, CPA, and Liz O'Dell Flash memory, or electronically erasable programmable read-only memory (EEPROM), is rewritable like normal random-access memory (RAM), but unlike dynamic RAM (DRAM) or static RAM (SRAM), holds data after the power is turned off. The PowerMate CT supports 133MHz Synchronous Dynamic RAM, improving overall system throughput performance significantly over the current PC-100 architecture without sacrificing price. |
